GED Online FAQ

When do classes start? 

Our online classes begin every two weeks. 

How do I register for online GED classes?

NEW STUDENTS

  1. Complete our online application here.
  2. Email our HSE advisor Maria Perea at maria.perea@emilygriffith.edu and request to be registered for either GED Math, GED Language Arts, or both. In your email, please also include your first and last name, and email address. We will register you and send you an email confirming your registration.

CONTINUING STUDENTS

I didn’t get an email with instructions about starting class. 

Students should receive an email from GED advisor Maria Perea at the time they are registered. The email will provide step-by-step instructions for getting started with class. 

How are the online GED classes structured?

Our online GED Preparation classes consist of online learning modules that you can study independently at any time. Instructors will hold online office hours weekdays in the morning and evening, and also on Saturday mornings. We are offering the following online classes: Language Arts Level 1, Language Arts Level 2, Math Level 1 and Math Level 2. Length: 7 weeks. 

Can I take free classes?

Yes. We recieved authorization to begin offering our grant-funded classes virtually to students starting on May 4th. All GED classes starting between May 4th and June 30th will be free for students. 

Do I need to be in Colorado or the U.S. to take the free AEFLA classes? 

CDC guidelines do not prevent students from joining from outside of Colorado. However, once we resume in-person office hours, you would need to test in person

What time of the day are the classes?

The online GED Prep classes are flexible. You can work independently to study with the online materials at any time of the day or week that is convenient for you. Instructors will hold online office hours at multiple times throughout the week.

I don’t have a computer or Internet at Home, will my phone work for classes online?

You should be able to access all course content on your smartphone. If you would like to request a loner laptop, we have some available. Please email GEDprep@emilygriffith.edu after registering for class and let us know you would like to borrow a laptop.
