TABE Waiver Requirements
After you have completed your online application, you must take the TABE Assessment in order to enroll in a Career and Technical Education program at Emily Griffith Technical College, UNLESS an Emily Griffith Student Services Coordinator waives your TABE test through other assessment scores or previous college courses. View the requirements for waiving the TABE Assessment below.
If you have taken a different assessment test, such as the Accuplacer, ACT, SAT, or CCPT within the last five years, you may be able to waive the TABE Assessment if you scores meet the TABE Equivalent score for the program of interest. Previous MAP, CASAS, or 9/10 TABE scores within one year may provide an acceptable waiver as well.
If you believe your previous assessment scores meet these criteria, you MUST to bring your official scoresheet or unofficial transcript in to the Welcome Center to discuss your scores with a Student Services Coordinator.
Previous college courses
If you have previously attended college and have earned a C grade or higher in an English 121 or Math 108 course, you may also be able to waive the TABE Assessment.
If you think you may be able to waive the TABE Assessment because you have taken a college level English or Math course and earned a C grade or higher, you MUST to bring an official or unofficial transcript in to the Admissions office to discuss the course and whether it meets our requirements with a Student Services Coordinator.
If you are applying for our Practical Nursing (LPN) program, you cannot waive the TABE Assessment.
