Information regarding CARES Act funding

Higher Education Emergency Relief Grant for Students

Emily Griffith Technical College (OPE ID: 005596) received education stabilization funds under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”), Public Law No: 116-136.  Emily Griffith Technical College received $914,363 for the direct distribution to eligible students. The College estimates 4669 students are eligible to participate* in programs under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act and thus eligible to receive federal stimulus funds.  Emily Griffith Technical College will distribute the funds equally across all eligible students resulting in a direct payment of $195.83 to the student.

We anticipate mailing checks mid July 2020.  For Registered Apprenticeship programs, the checks will be delivered to the Apprenticeship Partner site.  There is not an application process and no action is required on the part of the eligible student. Should a eligible student wish not to receive these funds, they may opt out here

*CARES relief funds are not financial aid and acceptance of other federal, state, or institutional funds is not required in order to receive CARES relief funds.
