January is the perfect time to make homemade hot chocolate. Please do not use a chocolate packet. Hot chocolate should be sweet and creamy. Using cocoa powder gives it a cocoa flavor and the addition of chocolate chips and milk instead of water will make the drink extra creamy.
Homemade Hot Chocolate
- 4 Cups Milk
- ¼ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- ¼ Cup Sugar
- ½ Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Directions
Place milk, cocoa powder and sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, whisking frequently. Once warm add chocolate chips stir until chips melt. Add vanilla extract and serve.
