Registration currently open for all courses.
DENVER – With recent stay-at-home and safer-at-home orders in place, Emily Griffith Technical College has launched several new online courses for Coloradans to continue their education – or learn something new – from home. New courses include the Google IT Support Professional Certificate and programs in Web Development, Cybersecurity and Construction Essentials. The school has also overhauled their Video Production & Editing program under the new name Multimedia & Video Production. With changes in how education is being taught and received, Emily Griffith Technical College is making sure all programs can be taught in a virtual environment or via a hybrid of online and on-site courses for when in-person learning resumes.
In partnership with Colorado Technology Association (CTA), the Google IT Support Professional Certificate –developed by Google and hosted by Emily Griffith Technical College – teaches interested individuals the skills needed to start a career in IT support, which is one of the fastest growing fields in the U.S. The program comes to Denver through a collaboration with Google and Jobs for the Future, supported with funding from Google.org. Registration is currently open at Google IT Cert Application. The program kicks off on May 15. No prior IT experience is needed. The program includes five courses, with a dynamic mix of video lectures, quizzes and hands-on labs and widgets. Individuals will learn about troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security. After May 15, individuals can start the program whenever they are ready.
Additional new programs that will commence in the fall include:
- Web Development – Students will learn object-oriented programing, multi-platform development, how to build web applications and more.
- Cybersecurity – Teaches the skills needed to get an entry-level security position, including how to protect computer operating systems, networks, and data from cyber attacks, as well as how to monitor systems and mitigate threats. In less than one year, students will be prepared to complete the CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Construction Essentials – Students will gain foundational skills necessary for an entry-level job in construction. Students will learn the fundamentals for all construction trades, including construction math, power tools, construction drawings, and material handling. Students will be prepared to receive their OSHA 10 certification.
- Multimedia & Video Production – Students will gain experience using multiple graphics, motion graphics, sound design, and video editing software applications.
