Welding 1

Students at Emily Griffith Technical College learn welding through hands-on experience. This student is using an arc welder while in class.

Our Welding program gives students hands-on experience in key welding processes, including gas metal arc welding, thermal cutting processes, shielded metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and oxy fuel cutting and welding.

It is an intense program that is primarily lab based and focuses on developing critical welding skills, including safety, torch cutting processes, proper arc welding equipment setup, control techniques, and basic welding metallurgy. Students also gain knowledge in blueprint reading, metal types and the welding applications to use with them, metal cutting and fabrication tools, welding positions, and weld inspection and testing.

All of our coursework is aligned with the American Welding Society's SENSE Standards

Earn your AWS SENSE Level I welding certificate in our training program for $9,799. Additional fees may apply for books and other materials.         You could be earning up to $33,608 per year as an entry level welder!         Go to school full-time for 8 months in our AWS SENSE Level I Welding program.
