Graduate Check-In

LOCATION: The Cable Center
2000 S. Buchtel Blvd., Denver, CO 80210

Please arrive early for check-in. No later than 8:30 AM. Only graduates are allowed in this area.

There is a small parking lot and roundabout directly outside of The Cable Center for graduate drop-off (if you are not parking).

Check-in is IMPORTANT! This is where you will fill out your name card. KEEP THIS CARD WITH YOU. This is how you will be announced when walking across the stage.

Once you have gotten your name card, find your program/instructor and stay together as a group until the ceremony begins. You will NOT be able to return to the Cable Center after the ceremony. Do not leave any items (bags, shoes, water bottles, etc) in this location.

Parking

FREE parking will be available on a first-come, first served basis in these lots:

  • Lot C
  • Lot 108 (PARKING UPDATE, see below in red)
  • Lot L
  • Lot 311 – ADA/mobility needs parking lot

Metered, street parking (not free) will be available if you cannot locate a spot in the listed lots.

The drop-off entrance for guests with mobility needs is on the north side of the Ritchie Center, off of Buchtel Blvd. See map.

If you or your guests are planning to park in Lot 108, PLEASE READ.

To access Lot 108, you will need to access it from Asbury Avenue/S Josephine Street. See map (Lot 108 and the access route is in purple). There will be officers directing traffic in this area

 Do NOT park in the following areas:

  • RTD Parking Lot
  • Apartment/Condominium and Residential Parking on Buchtel Blvd, University Blvd and E Jewell Avenue
  • University Park Tower Condominiums do not have public parking available. Parking in this complex is subject to the violator being ticketed and/or towed.
  • Permitted Only Parking in neighborhood streets—please note time limits, zones, etc.

Guests

Doors will open ONE hour prior to the beginning of the ceremony. Please plan to arrive EARLY for the scheduled ceremony. For the best seating and parking, we encourage you to arrive early. Traffic and parking become very congested as there are very few entry points to the parking lots.

The ceremony will be indoors. All guest seating is general admission.

Concessions will be available (water, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks). No outside food or drink permitted.

Clear Bag Policy

All guests will be subject to security screening, including metal detector screening and inspection of medically necessary bags or other items carried in.

  • Guests must use:
    • Clear bags measuring no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” inches and/or
    • Wristlets, clutches, or wallets measuring no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches.
  • Guests who require a bag for medical equipment or a diaper bag are permitted to bring a bag no larger than 12 in. x 6 in. x 12 in. All guests entering with medical or diaper bags are subject to visual screening upon entry.
  • Management reserves the right to handle each occurrence on a case-by-case basis. All permitted bags, jackets and guests are subject to search upon entering the Ritchie Center.
  • Graduates, we encourage you not to bring bags or items as you will not have a place to store them during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, graduates and their guests may reunite on the North Lawn by the Ritchie Center (blue circle below).

FAQS

No, but we strongly encourage it. Submitting helps us verify your eligibility, update your contact information, collect your cap and gown size (free of charge), and complete job placement follow-up.

April 15th. Students who submitted by this date can pick up their cap and gown early. Students who miss the deadline can still participate but will pick up their cap and gown on graduation day, and sizing may not be exact.

Yes. You may still complete the graduation application after April 15th. If you missed the deadline, caps and gowns will be available on graduation day, and we will do our best to provide the closest available size, but sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Yes. If you completed your program within the applicable graduation year, you are eligible to participate regardless of whether you submitted the application.

Make sure you’re logged into the Student Portal. Step-by-step login instructions are at the bottom of the Graduation Page. If the issue persists, email support at help@emilygriffith.edu.

No, tickets are not required and you can invite as many guests as you’d like.

The ceremony runs about 90 minutes. Out of respect for all graduates and their families, we ask that everyone remain until the end.

No. Participation in the ceremony is optional.

Free. There is no cost for graduates.

Cap and gown pickup dates will be announced closer to the ceremony. Information will be shared on the Graduation Page and through student email.

Yes, decorating caps is allowed as long as the decorations are consistent with the Student Code of Conduct.

Dress is comfortable, business casual attire and comfortable shoes are recommended. Graduates will be walking and standing during the ceremony.

Your certificate or diploma will be mailed to the address on record once final grades are verified.

Prohibited items include: artificial noise makers including instruments, air horns, cow bells, whistles, vuvuzelas, etc.; animals (excluding service animals); balloons; balls; banners; bottles and cans; candles or open flames; confetti; coolers; derogatory/defamatory clothing; firearms or weapons of any kind; fireworks; flags; flyers and handouts; frisbees or other projectiles; glitter; laser pens or laser products of any type; outside food and beverage of any kind; poles and sticks; projectiles; selfie sticks; signs; ski or non-medical masks (medical masks are permitted); tents; umbrellas; and anything else that would interfere with other guests’ ability to see, hear, and/or enjoy the ceremony.

We hold one graduation ceremony per year at the end of the academic year, generally in mid-July. Information about the ceremony is posted on this page starting in spring.

COMPLETE THE GRADUATION APPLICATION

  • Visit my.emilygriffith.edu
  • Login to Student Portal with your username and password. Your username is your student ID (ex: 1234567)
  • If you have forgotten your password, click “Forgot My Password” underneath the login to reset.
  • Once logged in to the student portal, select the “Student” tab from the top menu. 
  • Then, select “Graduation Application” on the right-hand side.
