Press Release: Dental Administrative Assistant

Emily Griffith Technical College Launches New Dental Administrative Assistant Program
The program is one of several shorter programs launching this year to help students move into the workforce more quickly

DENVER, September 4, 2025 – Emily Griffith Technical College (Emily Griffith) has launched a new Dental Administrative Assistant program. The program gets students into jobs more quickly and fills needed positions in the workforce. The first cohort begins this fall. Emily Griffith will be launching other new short-form programs (that take under 600 hours to complete) in different industries over the course of the upcoming school year. The short-form courses are being created in response to industry needs.

The Dental Administrative Assistant program prepares students to provide patient care, and conduct front-office and discharge-office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists. It includes instruction in medical record-keeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, basic dental office patient care and instruction, and other supervised practice.

“Through these short-form programs, we’re not just creating shorter programs, we’re being intentional about what skills are most important for an entry-level hire,” said Linda Van Doren, Ed.D., vice president of education at Emily Griffith. “For someone who wants to quickly shift into a stable, in-demand career, the Dental Administrative Assistant program offers a focused, supportive path and it takes just four weeks to complete.”

Emily Griffith is reimagining training to help students enter the workforce faster. By shortening select programs, the college is reducing life disruption and accelerating students’ return on investment. The college is streamlining coursework in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, focusing on essential job-ready skills for entry-level positions. This fall, the college is launching redesigned programs to get students career-ready more quickly by honing in on the key competencies employers need for initial hires. The college is expanding this model with new focused programs in high-demand fields like Dental Administrative Assistant offering:

  • Faster time to completion with lower tuition costs
  • Stackable credentials that build towards advanced roles
  • An ideal structure for students balancing work and family
  • Industry-aligned outcomes, getting more students into in-demand jobs quickly
  • Employer partnerships, speeding up the time to hire for program graduates

With dental offices increasingly seeking support staff who can seamlessly manage both front-desk responsibilities and patient care, graduates of the Dental Administrative Assistant program will be well-positioned to meet the workforce demand.
