REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP: COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER
OVERVIEW
What is a Commercial Truck Driver? A commercial truck driver is a licensed professional who operates large commercial vehicles—such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and tanker trucks—to transport goods across state lines and long distances. These drivers are essential to the national supply chain, ensuring that products move safely and efficiently across the country.
In the commercial truck driver apprenticeship program, you’ll receive hands-on training behind the wheel and classroom instruction. You’ll learn how to inspect and operate Class A vehicles, follow safety procedures, navigate long-haul and regional routes, and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
This one-year registered apprenticeship program is designed for individuals who already have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and want to build their real-world skills through mentored, paid on-the-job experience. Upon completion, you’ll be better prepared for a successful long-term career in the transportation industry with the skills and confidence needed to handle demanding hauls and high-value loads.
